Play with friends: rooms, codes and online races

3 min read

Nebula Rush is built to be played together. Here are the two ways to get a group racing in under a minute.

On one screen (the couch)

Open Nebula Rush on a laptop, desktop or TV. A four-letter room code appears on screen. Everyone else opens the same site on their phone, taps Join a code, and types it. Each phone becomes a controller and takes a slot on the grid — up to six racers, with bots filling any empty seats.

Online, across devices

Want to race friends who aren't in the room? Use Play online to get matched into a public room, or share your code so they can join from anywhere. The server runs the race for everyone, and an in-race ping badge shows each player's connection so you can tell lag from skill.

Phones, keyboards and gamepads together

A single race can mix input types: some players on phones (tilt), some on keyboards, some on gamepads. The big screen splits the view so everyone sees their own ship.

Tips for a smooth session

  • Put the host screen where everyone can see it, and turn the volume up.
  • Everyone on the same Wi-Fi keeps couch play snappy.
  • For online play, a wired or strong connection on the host helps the most.
  • Start with a short track and a few laps to teach newcomers, then raise the stakes.

FAQ

How many people can race together?

Up to six racers per room, as any mix of phones, keyboards and gamepads. Empty slots are filled by bots.

Do friends need an account?

No — they open the site, type the room code, and play. No download or sign-up.

Can we play if we are not in the same room?

Yes. Use Play online to match into a room, or share your code so friends join from anywhere.
